While exploring About Vaishno Devi you are made to understand the importance of pilgrimage to Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and its relevance as prominent Holy place in modern era. Three peaked mountains, Trikuta (also called Trikoot) houses this Holy cave in folds in which Shri Mata Vaishno Devi resides. The Goddess is known more around the world as one fulfilling all wishes of devotees as children getting them from mothers. Hundreds of thousands of devotees regularly arrive in Holy Cave round the year. Recent records confirm that number of visitors have already crossed one crore now who arrive here to get their wishes fulfilled. People from all corners of the country and abroad visit the Shrine with unwavering faith on this Goddess who fulfills their wishes if asked.  

One more major fact About Vaishno Devi Shrine is its height of 5200 ft altitude keeping it into limelight. Those arriving as pilgrims are supposed to trek for approximately 12 kilometers from katra—base camp where they start Holy journey. Once pilgrims ends the Holy Cave welcomes them and pilgrims attain blessings in making visit to Mother Goddess upon reaching this Shrine. This Holy Darshan (visit) starts with thoroughly visiting three important natural rocks also called Pindies whose visits are mandatory. This Cave has no other statue or idols. The visits to Shrine are for whole year and twenty four hours.

Drastic change occurred upon the creation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board or simply Shrine Board in 1986 especially for pilgrims. The Board took major initiative to improve Shrine management by following certain regulations to smoothen pilgrimage. Many developmental activities have been started through Shrine Board to ensure pilgrimage is made hassle-free, easy and satisfying experience. Several initiatives are taken on regular intervals by Shrine Board to simplify pilgrimage. Funds received from the offerings are reinvested for such purposes.
