While on the Track

  • The pilgrimage at Vaishno Devi Shrine is very sacred and pure; therefore devotees should avaoid wearing indecent dresses, speaking in a loud tone and making unnecessary gestures while on the Yatra. This is a sacred tour and can never become a picnic or vacation tour for you.
  • Always respect the feelings of other devotees as well.
  • Provide full support to security guards appointed at various points of the Yatra.
  • Since the Yatra path is full of dangerous areas that are prone to landslides, strictly avoid resting in these places.
  • Never indulge in bad habits like smoking, drinking liquor, chewing tobacco and beetle leaves, spitting, throwing litter all over, playing cards, consuming non-vegetarian food etc.
  • Ensure that you keep the areas around the Yatra path clean and hygienic. Use dustbins wherever necessary. Restrict the use of plastic and other toxic materials that pollute the environment.
  • Valuables like cash and jewels should be carried as minimum as possible. Be always cautious about your belongings as there are quite a few pick-pockets and thieves here.
  • Use cloak rooms for storing your belongings. Do not trust your strangers with these things.
  • Never encourage beggars by giving them money or food. They are strictly prohibited in this area.
  • Never accept food from strangers.
  • If you find any unclaimed baggage, never touch it and report the same to the concerned security personnel.
  • If you pay cash to the Shrine Board, ask the authorities to provide you a cash receipt for the same.
  • Some routes are cordoned off for repairs and maintenance. They are highly risky; hence should be strictly avoided.
  • You should get a fitness certificate from the Board authorities so that you are fully fit to take up the travel. If you suffer from Asthma related problems, you should compulsorily follow the same.
  • If you suffer from any medical ailments, you are strictly prohibited from using the stairs of the Yatra.
  • You should never the property of the templeĀ  and indulge in legal offences like writing or scribbling on the walls here.
  • Keep on moving while on the Yatra. Never stop and form crowds and disturbances to other devotees.
  • Never carry any video equipment on the Yatra track. You should deposit the same at the relevant counter in Katra.
  • All the outlets of the Shrine Board follow the motto of Self Service. Hence devotees are expected to help themselves at restaurants and hotels.
